Reading of the notice.
A motion was made to waive the reading of the text of the proposed changes, seconded and was approved.
The town of Monterey needs to update the zoning bylaws with regard to the definition of multi family dwellings. The Building Commissioner has advised the board that under the state building code the definition of a multi family dwelling is three or more dwellings, not two, as in the Monterey Zoning Bylaws.
Monterey passed the Secondary Dwelling Unit bylaw last year at the 2016 town meeting. That allows two dwellings on one lot as a by-right use. This furthers the need to change the definition of multi family dwelling to three of more dwellings.
We have copy/pasted the sections of the zoning bylaws that are affected by the proposed changes. The current bylaw text is in black. The text of the proposed changes is in red.
